How to Properly Dispose of Used AMSOIL Products

A question I wish more people asked is: what is the proper way to dispose of used oil and filters?

This matters, and it matters no matter what brand you use.

Used oil should never be dumped on the ground, in the trash, in a drain or anywhere it can create contamination. Used filters also need to be handled properly. Responsible disposal is just part of responsible maintenance.

My advice is to collect used oil in a proper container and take it to an approved recycling or collection location in your area. Many auto parts stores, service centers or local waste facilities can point you in the right direction. Used filters should also be drained and handled according to local regulations or recycling practices.

This is one of those topics where I think people need a simple answer: treat used oil like a material that needs to be recycled or disposed of correctly, not like normal trash.

I always tell people that good maintenance is not only about what you put into the engine. It’s also about what you do after the oil change is done.

If you care enough to use quality products, care enough to dispose of them the right way too.

That’s part of being a smart vehicle owner.

And honestly, that’s one of the reasons I like working with customers over the long term. I’m not just here for the first order. I want people to understand the full picture, products, applications, maintenance habits and the practical side of taking care of what they own.

Proper disposal might not be the most exciting topic, but it’s an important one. It protects the environment, supports responsible maintenance and reflects the kind of mindset I think every serious vehicle owner should have.

If you are doing your own oil changes with AMSOIL, extended drain intervals mean fewer disposal events per year. How often you should change your oil with AMSOIL depends on your product and driving conditions.
