The folks at ISOC did a tremendous job pulling off a full schedule of AMSOIL Championship Snocross racing last year despite the challenges of the pandemic. If you missed it, here’s a season recap. In 2022, we’re all hoping for a little more stability and the luxury of focusing on racing instead of COVID logistics.
Shakopee showdown
This season kicks off in Shakopee, Minn., Jan. 7-8, as Elias Ishoel will begin his AMSOIL Pro Class title defense. The Norwegian phenom dominated his class last year, winning by 103 points.
Team AMSOIL rider Hunter Patenaude figures to be hot on his heels this season. Patenaude moved up to the Pro Class last season and finished a solid fourth place on the season.
They say behind every great athlete is a great coach. In the world of snocross racing, behind every great racer is a great mechanic wrenching on his sled. But they don’t only provide mechanical support. They also support the riders while they’re on the track, encouraging them along the course, indicating which lines to choose …
Logan Christian to race out of the Scheuring trailer
Longtime Team AMSOIL member Steve Scheuring made a splash this summer when he signed Logan Christian to his team. The 29-year-old Minnesota native adds a successful veteran presence to Scheuring Speed Sports. He grabbed two podiums last season before an injury ended his campaign.
“It just started with mutual conversations over the course of the last two years,” said Scheuring. “You know, just joking to him, I said, ‘well, if you ever want to come on my team let me know.’ I got a phone call from him over this summer and we both had the same goals and the same vision, and he knows what it takes to win. Excited about bringing him on board.”
“I’ve always got along with Steve,” said Christian. “He is always a chipper guy at the races. His team works hard, and they always have some of the fastest sleds on the track. Steve’s team has been around the race world for a long time, and they know what they are doing on and off the track.”
Along with Patenaude, the Team AMSOIL duo should make a formidable force on the track this season.
